SUPER8独特の美学と、なぜ世界中のFilmmakerにインスピレーションを与え続けているかを学びます。

10:30 ●Super8 Camera Basics：Super8カメラの全て
どこで手に入れ、どこをチェックし、約50年前のカメラたちとどう向き合うかを考察します。
Super8カメラの種類、機能、扱い方について。

11:00 ●Selecting the right Film Stock and Processing：適切なフィルム選択と上質な現像
(特別ゲスト：両日 コダックジャパン 様 / 22日のみ IMAGICAエンタテインメントメディアサービス様)
講師自身の撮影経験に基づいた適切なフィルム選択方法を共有します。

12:00 ●Filmmaking with Super8：Super8でのフィルムメイキング
講師の自著であるフィルムメイキングハンドブックを参考に、自身の映像制作のノウハウ、代表的な撮影アプローチを紹介します。

12:30 昼休憩(みんなでお弁当/笑)

13:30 ●Practical Shooting：Super8での撮影実践/3人1組のチーム
スタジオ内外でカット割りをもとに撮影。

14:30 ●Film loading in the darkroom：暗室内で暗視スコープで現像リールへのフィルム装填
ILFORDポップアップダークルーム内で作業します。これが結構楽しいのです。笑

15:30 ●Processing with vintage/new machine：ビンテージ/最新鋭機材にて現像
ドイツよりJOBO社/Filmomat社の現像機による現像体験。

17:00 終了予定

●4Kスキャンは後日こちらでして、mp4データでお渡しいたします。

ディレクター/シネマトグラファー：酒井 洋一

HIGHLAND/HIGHLAND SUPER8 LAB 代表。
神田外語大学英米語学科を卒業後 ハリウッドに渡りLos Angeles City College映画学科卒業。3年の間現地でCM、PV、ショートフィルムなどの現場に参加し、フィルムでの映像制作を習得。帰国後2006年、ミュージックビデオプロダクションの最大手、(株)SEPに入社。安室 奈美恵, Mr.Children, Kinki Kids, KREVA, MONKEY MAJIKなど150本以上のアーティストの映像制作に携わる。
2009年、クリエイティブブランド「HIGHLAND」を設立。ウェディング撮影を中心に活動を開始。近年ではアメリカ、ロシア、イタリアなど世界での挙式/前撮り撮影や、留学時代に習得した8mm/16mmフィルムでの映像表現に再び力を入れるなど、常に新しい技術や想いを大切に、それぞれの「ストーリー」を表現していくスタイルに磨きをかける。2022年、HIGHLAND SUPER8 LABを立ち上げ8mmフィルムの現像/4Kスキャンを中心に国内トップレベルの高品位なサービスを提供する。

This is the long-awaited 8mm film workshop. The last workshop was held in the fall of 2022 and was a great success. Now that there is so much information out there, we have created an opportunity for everyone to experience the charm of 8mm film for themselves. We hope you will experience the charm of analog and vintage filmmaking. We would like to make this an opportunity to share the feeling of “film is great” with as many people as possible. No prior experience in filmmaking is necessary. Whether you are a beginner or a professional, this workshop promises to ignite your passion for Super8 filmmaking, so don’t miss this opportunity to dive into the nostalgic world of Super8. Schedule of the day + What you can learn in this workshop

10:00 ●Introduction to Super8: What is Super8?
Learn about Super8’s unique aesthetic and why it continues to inspire filmmakers around the world.

10:30 ●Super8 Camera Basics: All about the Super8 camera.
We will examine where to get them, where to check them out, and how to deal with these cameras that are almost 50 years old. Learn about the different types of Super8 cameras, their functions, and how to handle them.

11:00 ●Selecting the right Film Stock and Processing：Selecting the right film stock and quality development
(Special guest: Kodak)
The instructor will share how to select the right film stock based on his own photographic experience.

12:00 ●Filmmaking with Super8: Filmmaking with Super8
The lecturer will introduce his filmmaking know-how and typical filming approaches, referring to his own book, “Filmmaking Handbook.

12:30 Lunch break

13:30 ●Practical Shooting: Practical shooting with Super8 / teams of 3
Participants will shoot inside and outside of the studio based on the cut plan.

14:30 ●Film loading in the darkroom：Loading film onto developing reels in the darkroom with a night vision scope
We will work in the ILFORD pop-up darkroom. This is quite fun.

15:30 ●Processing with vintage/new machine: Developing with vintage/new German equipment
Experience developing films with JOBO/Filmomat machines from Germany.

17:00 (scheduled to end at 17:00)

4K scan will be done here later and will be delivered as mp4 data.

Director/Cinematographer: Yoichi Sakai

Founder of HIGHLAND/HIGHLAND SUPER8 LAB.
After graduating from Kanda University of International Studies with a BA in English and American Studies, he went to Hollywood and graduated from Los Angeles City College with a BA in Film Production, where he spent three years working on commercials, music videos, and short films. After returning to Japan, he joined SEP Inc. in 2006, the largest music video production company in Japan. He has been involved in the production of over 150 videos for artists such as Namie Amuro, Mr. Children, Kinki Kids, KREVA, and MONKEY MAJIK.
In 2009, he established the creative brand “HIGHLAND”. Started activities focusing on wedding videography. In recent years, he has been shooting weddings and pre-shoots in the U.S., Russia, Italy, and other countries around the world, and has also been focusing again on 8mm/16mm film, which he learned while studying abroad. HIGHLAND SUPER8 LAB will be established in 2022 to provide top-level high-quality services in Japan, focusing on 8mm film development and 4K scanning.
